Chinese Dietary Guidelines

The Chinese Dietary Guidelines (CDG) is an evidence-based guidance in defining healthy dietary choices and adequate physical activities. It applies the scientific studies to daily life. CDG offers advices for individual life style to improve the health condition of the population; at the meantime, it provides evidences for government to plan and develop food-related policies.

The first edition of Chinese Dietary Guideline was published in 1989, with eight sentences summarizing basic suggestions. The Chinese Dietary Balance Pagoda was created in the second edition of CDG in 1997, in order to better deliver the concept of balanced diet. To correspond to the trend and changes, CDG was revised and published again in 2007, making it more practical for individual readers. In 2015, another round of revising is taking place to ensure CDG becomes a resourceful toolkit.
